I got a small nit pick but when talking about the engine types, you missed piston air craft, and then when you were showing an example of an turbo prop, you showed a piston air craft. It's is a really good video though, it just would have bugged me if I didn't say any thing

In the 1960's, flying was BASED on speed. Up until the release of the 747 in 1969. American Airlines even asked for a jet that could go 635mph. Convair took the offer and made the Convair 990. The Concorde was the final straw on the flawed idea that speed was the best selling point. THAT is why flight times are longer.

I'm pretty sure, 90% of a turbofan's thrust comes from the air bypassing, not the air going through the engine. Am i wrong?

"Concorde didn't have fully flat beds" your missing the point. You didn't need to sleep on a 3 hour flight because by the time you've had lunch you'd be on final approach. Concorde's luxury was found in the food, the speed, and the experience.

By far, the worst part about flying is the time. It's SO boring, spending hours in what's basically a bus with a kitchen. After spending hours in an airport and a plane, by time you get to your destination, you're tired, ornery, and full of aches, so you have take a nap. Basically, you lose at least a whole day, even if it's just a 6 hour flight. I hope to see some kind of revolutionary change to aircraft engines, like hydrogen fuel cell or something that drastically reduces the fuel cost of flying so they can go back to supersonic flights.

None of the propeller-driven planes you showed while talking about turboprops were actually turboprops. Those were piston, just like your car. Turboprops are things like a Dash-8, Pilatus, TBM, Cessna Caravan, Saab 340 etc. They're turbine driven, whereas piston engines are not.

Yes, but aren't you forgetting one thing? Friction. When the planes begin to go faster, they begin to heat up. And a long range fight, say like New York to Amsterdam, the body of the plane will get warm. Any Jet Fighter pilot will tell you this. Just as a meteorite heats up and burns up in the atmosphere, so will a plane heat up from the air friction as it moves along. So this is why airlines keep their planes flying at under 550 mph.

The current priority is the lowest possible running cost. Supersonic flight is far too expensive, and also there are currenly no engines able to fly at supersonic speed while being compliant with noise regulations.

I know I'm in the minority, but given the choice between a 7 hour super luxury seat flight vs 3 hour regular seat flight at the same price, I would gladly choose the 3 hour. Not that i could ever afford it anyway, but that's my take.

So we need new jet engines that can be more fuel efficient at mach 1.2 or faster. The next big thing will probably be an engine not requiring the flow of air for thrust.

As an engineer who makes turbofan engines I can confirm the other comments. Your description of turbofan thrust generation is wrong, generally about 80% of thrust is generated by the bypass air, the core of the engine is only really there to spin the fan
