In this episode, I design and build my own device that reminds to complete 6 tasks each day. Each flick on the switch is accompanied by a tiny boost in dopamine. Inspired by @Simone Giertz "The Everyday Calendar" but with 6 reminders instead of one.
The full code, CAD and illustrator files as well as the schematic for the electronics can be found here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JT_uNP8yWYnl9HUFpKN8J3Ya1B2z1zBw

Watched this entire video with my mouth open in disbelief. You should attempt to move such actions as swallowing a vitamin tablet & brushing your teeth etc from what your refer to as a tasks (as if they require a degree of thought & effort), into the doing without thinking category of life. Actions such as breathing, blinking, moving ones limbs etc. Then create a similar gadget that has a programmable little screen under the switches, so you can add different tasks wirelessly via a simple app. You could even program it to say well done Mike as well as play a little jingle when you flick the switch. Then again you may drown in your own dopamine with that level of praise.

In school I was taught how to make circuits using actual microchips, breadboards, and boolean logic. In videos like this and similar videos, I almost exclusively see the use of arduino or other micro controllers, even for very simple tasks that could easily be solved with logic gates. It would save money, space, and power. Is there any particular reason for that do you think? Lazyness, or maybe just lack of knowledge? To me, microchips are the difference between a 15$ permanent project, or 60$ temporary project because you'll rip the Arduino out later.

What's stopping you from flicking the switches when you haven't finished the tasks?

Eh. Mike...if you add wifi connection and connect a smart led bulb, your device will indicate that you have achieved your goal with all the illumination of the entire room which according to science makes you feel better.

Great video, I thought it was funny use an arduino uno for reading 6 switches and displaying 7 leds because is a little bit of an Overkill. I would liked to see the circuit after implemented with the CIs
