If you talk from the geography perspective , Bangladesh is the richest country . They have the most fertile land in the world . There are more than 700 rivers , world's largest mangrove forest (Sundarbans, home of royal bengal tiger) , world's largest sea beach (cox's bazar) is in Bangladesh . Russia is the world's largest country but Bangladesh has more population than Russia . I am telling so that you can understand how fertile is the land of Bangladesh . 160 million people eating 3 times every single day . that's a lot of amount of food that you have to produce from 147,610 square foot of land . That is the area of Bangladesh . you know what I mean , it means you can cultivate anywhere you want . just drop some seeds and crops will grow automatically . There is no other country like that . And about the weather, you don't need air conditioner neither room heater . You can just sleep under the sky . :) [ The Problem of Bangladesh is and always has been the political disturbance and corruption ( consecutively world champion for 5 times in corruption) . But , when people talk about developed country , It's true that they are technologically advanced , GDP is higher , people are rich . But ,Bangladeshi people receive free education and health care from government . all the other country can do that too if the government don't use tax money to make nuclear weapon . ]

I think that Italy has a strong claim to being optimal, and history backs them up on it too. The alps make a near impenetrable defensive barrier for most of history, their farmlands are rich, their coasts are massive on account of running down both sides of the country, and they have what’s more important than sea-access: beach access. The Mediterranean is uniquely advantageous, in that it has a massive amount of coast compared to its volume, being very wide. This allows shorter sailing distances that can allow easier trade and power projection, empires can and did manage to wield control over the entire thing, giving them massive economic and military advantages over anyone they confront. If you asked me to describe the best starting location in the world, Italy is it. And the existence of the Roman Empire proves that it is, if not optimal, at least highly effective.

You should have better called it as Indian subcontinent since Dhaka was part of India before partition(1905) and it is evident from its vast population through ages( population control is a recent idea!) that it was and is the best place for civilization.

10:01 – Race is a factor in this as well. Notice how most of those large cities are where European and East Asian people are most densely located. These two races have achieved spectacular things during their existences. Indigenous South Americans and Africans, on the other hand, just aren't capable of forming large-scale civilizations.

I wish the laws would respect business locations and prevent competitors from opening up their own locations too close just to steal customers. Should change the laws and make it where they would have to buy out businesses if they want to open a similar one too close. I live in a town where there's the same stores everywhere I go, and they're always closing and opening somewhere else because there's just no way they can succeed. We have absolutely no regulations, just everyone taking advantage of any business owner who's willing to invest their life savings. Fuck Canada. It's stupid. Makes sense why there's so many on welfare...

I think that the best location to put a city is probably the actual place were the city of Buenos Aires (my city) in Argentina is located. It is in the shores of the widest river in the world and has a conection to lots of other rivers like the Parana and Uruguay, wich makes transport easy. Also, it is in the pampa plain, an incredibly flat piece of land incredibly extensive (bigger than countries like Italy) that is perfect for farming and cows raising. It is far away of areas affected by earthquakes or huricanes but also somewhat near to areas with lots of minerals and big forests.

@Alexandra Salusbury I totally get you. I also didn't want to dump on Egypt. It is a very old and fascinating civizilation with great achievements. I was just referring to the point that in the video, they made explicit reference to large empires, and in that respect, Egypt never went on a conquest spree. But in terms of longevity and internal economic/social stability, I agree, they are top of the pyramid.

Місяць tagasi
Alexandra Salusbury
Alexandra Salusbury

@Apankou I understand that you are smart. Very well. But my definition of success is long-lasting and peace. The society and civilization lasted for over/around 3,000 years. It changed, yes, but not much. Pharaohs came and went, and when the beloved Ramses II passed, people mourned for two years straight. That shows just how much dedication was in place. Egyptian society was built up very well and stayed stable because it was just so foolproof. Normal people were treated well, as they just needed to pay work tax or goods tax to the Pharaoh. And to their landlord. Most had plenty to spare. I could rant on and on about why Egypt was both a successful civilization and why I like it so much... but you get my point. I don't want to argue with a grown-ass person.

Місяць tagasi
Apankou

Egypt is old, but has never been large in geographical terms. It's the epitomy of a highly specialized civilization dependent on a specific environment. Their influence has always been centered on the Nile and their agricultural surplus depends on working with the annual floods. They exploited the mineral resources of the desert mountain ranges and occasionally would set up vassal kingdoms in the Levant, but to the south, they never even reached the Sudd, the big barrier on the Nile, to the north they never became a truly seafaring people (most trade was done by Phoenicians), in the west, they never went beyond the oasis in the Libyan desert, and in the east they were constantly involved in political conflicts with Mesopotamia, Canaanites, Hittites, Ugarit and so on. In the end, they were limited by their very own way of living to the Nile valley. Like the Mayas on Yucatan or the Inca in the upper Andes.
