But how did China achieve this? Abusing workers, ignoring human right's and threaten entire families lifes! Oh how much work can be achieved, when humans fear for their lifes in a authoritarian regime... Personally ,I dislike this propaganda video, not sure if you're creating or just spreading propaganda though.

Maybe China is so good at building railways because they are so experienced with it. Wasn’t the original US railroad system spanning the country, (now, primarily freight) built with Chinese labor?

one thing may be better pointed out is that this transportation strategy is not all about efficiency, sometimes those "small towns" may asking for the economical opportunities by setting a stop/station, besides the aviation control, the patents and manufacturing technologies of flight are also concerns.

After the first half of this video, I was wondering why this YouTuber wishes to introduce this great achievement of Chinese people to English speaking audiences? This is very rare for a person from the West World. When the video runs to about 5:30 , oh~~, I see how the "JUICY "part kicked in. I guess this is how you get sponsorship to do this video. Well, still an old "Cliché" that everything that the Chinese did will have an evil agenda. For this time, you are claiming the reason is regarding the effective control of remote regions like Xinjiang and Tibet. From other western media, they questing why Chinese government made an enormous investment in 3rd would countries etc. like countries in Africa instead to invest to its own country as there are still plenty of undeveloped and developing regions in China? In fact, the amount of oversea investment China did over past decades just a fraction compared with domestic investment within China's border. For example, the so-called "obvious lack of profits" high-speed railway system in China's remote regions is a significant part of those domestic investments. Have you ever consider how to make a remote economic un-developed region to get out of perversity? Infrastructure like high-speed railway system is the first fundamental step of everything. This infrastructure will connect remote, undeveloped areas of China to developed coastal provinces. Therefore, bind undeveloped areas to the global production chain. Making it able to importing low-end manufacturing sector from the well-developed east coast of China while they are upgrading to the high-end industry sector like Artificial Intelligence, micro-chip design & mass production, as well as the standardisation & implementation of 5G network. By doing so, bring more job opportunity to undeveloped regions of China, therefore, making people who live in there out of perversity. Another factor that China could beat the United States that all railway system is owned by the state. This is why we can build a new high-speed railway system in China far more efficient and faster compares with the United States. Meanwhile, what is the United States focusing on? Ah, building a wall to stop Mexicans. Trust me, talking about building walls, Chinese hows a thing or two. In a word, it never gonna work. It fails to stop either Xiongnu, Mongols or Manchurian before. And it won't stop Mexicans. Also, burning the US dollar to feed the monster war machine in the Middle East and North Africa. Assassinate foreign leader etc. only make things even more complicated. The United States becomes the sole threat of global peace.

Not saying there is no political deals around Urumuqi, but the point of public transportation was never to be profitable in the first place. There is also a huge demand for travelling during the Chinese New Year so thats why the train needs to reach every major cities, especially the less connected areas. It could be seen as connection trains since there is no direct train to a lot places in Urumuqi.

Trust me, the trains in China are pretty comfortable, and most importantly, fast, smooth, and quiet. I've never been in Business Class or First Class, but from what I've seen in the YouTube comments, they seem to be pretty luxurious. However, I do understand if you still prefer driving, but taking the high speed rail is going to be a lot quicker and easier.

@Trumpenstein Companies selling technology to each others is a common practice. It's called a technology transfer. There is a whole wiki page talking about and is a completely legal business model. Oftentimes, China use large sums of money to purchase those technology instead of developing their own, since it is quicker and cheaper than developing your own. I could understand people call it STEALING But it's a mutual agreement between companies. An example is Kawasaki Heavy Industries selling their bullet train technology to China to develop their High Speed Rail.

You didn’t mention the single hardest factor for HSR in the US: Land ownership. Yes, imminent domain and easements are solutions, but the costs and court system make this particularly hard in the US. That's where the political will comes in. But just to say political will leaves out a key issue to our implementation of HSR.
